Yes, actually the industry is attempting to recover solar panel materials before aging systems wear out. Working with Sillicon Valley Toxics Coalition to impliment recycling programs, the industry is preparing for the many solar panels that are aging but not yet dead. And this includes the toxic sillicone in solar panels.
Absolutely, many companies have grow wise to the benefits of the opportunity to recycle in the solar market. This includes more that just the silicon in PV photovoltaic panels, but a majority of the components that make them up. Many programs are pre-funded are utilized to create new products and minimize the environmental impacts.
