You can, but only if you sleep on the ground improperly. It is important to achieve proper sleeping posture in the neutral spine position (check out the links below to find out how). Now, there isn’t much research or medical information on the benefits or disadvantages of sleeping on the ground, and I do reccommend checking with your doctor and asking him or her whether or not sleeping on the ground would be good for you. It is possible for sleeping on the ground to exacerbate preexisting back pain; then again, some people say sleeping on the ground helps with their back problems.
