Indeed it is a possiblity. However, one of the primary concerns with the current methods for raising livestock is that they are confined in small quarters, with little access to the outside and a diet that is based off of grain, rather than grasses and shrubs which most livestock species have evolved to digest. So, it would make sense to me to have the bottom floor be for animals so they have easy access to the outside. However free range animals generally need quite a bit of space to roam to gather enough resources to be fully nourished.
