Can you get government rebates for wind power like you can for solar power?

Yes. Many tax incentives for installing home wind turbines are being offered at the state level, and some at the US federal level as well. In Maine, Colorado and various other states you can get a rebate worth anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 for installing a wind turbine near your house. The 2008 emergency bailout bill, passed not long before George W. Bush left office, included a tax rebate of up to nearly 30% for qualifying wind and solar projects. There are also a number of tax credits available to businesses and utility companies for developing wind farms and wind technology on the commercial level. Portland General Electric, for example, the utility that provides power to much of metropolitan Oregon, has been taking advantage of wind-related tax rebates for nearly 10 years.
