Yes and no. The liver is a fascinating organ because it is the only one in the human body that has the ability to regenerate itself. The liver is full of cells known as hepatocytes, which can regenerate the organ from a mere 25 percent of the original tissue. Although this process can take up to eight years, it is a common medical practice for parts of one patient;s liver to be transplanted and regrown in another individual.
