Grey wolves actually have been reintroduced into Yosemite (14 to be exact) in 1995 in order to bring balance back to the area. The last wolf was shot and killed in 1928. Other animals, especially elk, have gotten a chance to overpopulate the areas. Check out the citations: the first is on the wolves, and the second citation focuses on the elk.
Note that the other answer refers to Yellowstone, not Yosemite. The former is in Wyoming-Montana-Idaho, the latter is in California, and the statement that wolves were reintroduced into Yosemite is incorrect.
