can we use old banana peels to make energy somehow?

Old produce or organic refuge can be recycled in a number of ways to produce energy in some shape or another. Creating a compost pile is the easiest and most applicable for most small households and produces natural fertilizer to add to plants and gardens. Other production methods can use biomass to create a variety of fuels, including the bi-product of biomass pyrolysis known as syn-gas.

Apparently, yes. Researchers in Australia say they have found an economical way to produce ethanol using banana peels. I haven’t seen too much more about this (dated from 2005). Other sites say you could make charcoal briquettes out of them.
