It seems so. There is a company called cereplast which believes it will be able to replace 50% or more of the petroleum ethers currently used in plastics. This sounds like a pretty cool renewable source for making plastics, another cool part, most of them should degrade in 180 days. Sounds like a good use for plastic cups and plates used at conferences and seminars.
