Can we reduce carbon emissions by 85%?

Yes, in fact, the ultimate goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by removing as much carbon dioxide from the environment as we emit. The number one strategy to head in the direction of this goal is to switch from a fossil fuel based economy to a green economy based on renewable energy sources. Currently the majority of carbon dioxide emissions result from the production of energy by combusting fossil fuels- so if we learn to create energy from renewable sources, the reduction of carbon emissions by 85% is certainly within reach.
