You can recycle CFLs in many major hardware stores. Home Depot and Ace Hardware have CFL recycling programs. Ecogeek.org- a website formed to inform readers about ecological issues has an article that explains how you can recycle old CFLs for free. I work at an Ace Hardware in the Chicago suburbs and we take old CFL’s and recycle them. If there is an Ace near you I would suggest taking your old bulbs to the service desk in the store where they cut keys, fix glass, etc. At least at the store I work at there is no charge for this.
