Can we reach our carbon emissions targets without using nuclear power?

Most experts would say no.  Nuclear energy currently provides 20% of the country’s needs, but is 70% of the emission-free energy.  The costs of completely revamping every electrical grid to only use wind, solar, or tidal energy would be astronomical.  While I personally hope we can find a way to avoid the use of nuclear energy, it seems that the United States doesn’t have many options if we wish to lower our carbon emissions.
