Solio claims to have already done so. It has manufactured a solar-powered “hybrid” battery charger that it claims can be used for i-Pods, cell phones, game players, GPS units, and digital cameras.

A more effective way of unversally charging (not to knock solar power, but its abillity to power small electronics on a personal level still leave something to be desired) could be by using a “power mat”. These products look like mouse pads and the plug into the wall. All you have to do is attach some sort of reciever to the back of whatever item you want to charge and place it on the mat and it will charge anything wirelessly. Its not any more environmentally friendly than plugging into the wall, it just more convenient.
