Bamboo isn’t necessarily a more eco-friendly alternative to wood. It requires a little more processing to layer and glue together thin bamboo to make planks tough enough for floors, and, although regeneration time for bamboo is quicker, over the long term, biomass increases in a bamboo forest versus a comparable forest of trees is pretty similar. Perhaps the best option is to diversify, and use both wood and bamboo for wood products, so as not to exhaust any one source.
