Bolivia still has plenty of environmental issues, including erosion and severe air and water pollution. The fact that they conserve so much of their land is certainly commendable, even given that the original reason for doing so was to cancel foreign debt. However, this land is frequently used for illegal hunting, logging and agriculture. There are also many examples of unsustainable uses of the land in Bolivia, including slash-and-burn agriculture. Like any other country, it’s having its share of environmental problems. We can look up to the Bolivian researchers and lawmakers who are trying to protect their forests and endangered species.
