Can we have a paperless future?

I think that as the digital age matures and expands we will have a future where we use less paper, but I do not see a paperless future anytime soon or even in this century. Paper has been too reliable a material for thousands of years, and finding a replacement for all the uses of paper will prove to be a greater task than our current digital media can support. We’d have to find equally useful, and durable, alternatives to paper that we know will still be readily accessible. Paper is so widely used, especially for physical objects, like toilet paper for example, that cannot be replaced by digital means; I think the best route to go with the paperless future would be to make it a future where paper is made from faster renewing resources like bamboo or hemp instead of traditional trees.
