You can get more consistent energy from waves, as the force is constantly there. How this compares to wind–nothing really concrete has been done toward investigating that end, as factors such as economics and components come into account. Tides are more predictable than wind patterns. However, the current obstacle is its attraction to investors–tidal generators are expensive to set up (but easy to maintain) and may not return on investments for many years, making people reluctant to use them.
