Most viruses eventually kill the host cell, or at least modify its function so that it no longer performs its normal activities. For all virus hosts, including humans, this is problematic. There are some viruses that essentially remain dormant within the host and so there are few if any symptoms of the virus, but I am not aware of any accounts in which the virus is considered “good” for a human or any other organism for that matter.
