Can vinegar help sore throats?

It is a well known folk remedy that gargling with apple cider vinegar can help sore throats.  The reason behind this assumption is that the acidity of the vinegar helps kill germs and bacteria.  Although there is no actual medical evidence that this is the case, a number of people testify that ACV relieves their symptoms.

Yes, in accordance with the statement above, many people gargle with salt water for the same reason to kill bacteria in the throat. Thus it does depend on the individual, however the whole point of these remedies is to kill the bacteria in your throat before it turns into a full fledged cold.
