In order for UV light to kill bacteria, it needs to actually reach the bacteria. Since light can’t penetrate (most) wood, it probably will not be able to kill bacteria inside wood. UV light is best at killing bacteria that’s already exposed, like in a water tank, in the air, or spilled on the floor.
