Can transit oriented cities be a green solution to growth?

Transit oriented cities are a big step in the right direction. While buses and subways still create pollution, it is far less than all the cars in this country. Easy and accessible public transportation makes it possible for people to live without a personal vehicle, which makes a significant difference. Once people are used to getting around by foot, bike, and public transit, there are other steps that can be taken. Maybe electric/solar buses and clean energy subway systems?
