Evolutionary scientists regard “teaching” as a higher-order behavior of which only the most intelligent animals are capable. In addition to humans, that list includes, dolphins, certain primates, and meerkats. For the most part, these animals teach “cultural behavior,” e.g, hunting techniques among meerkats. There have been no reports of trained animals teaching other animals tricks, although there was a satirical article published in litenews about Sea-World dolphins training other dolphins for a world tour.
