Most curbside recycling programs do not accept styrofoam (also known as polystyrene). However, it can be recycled – you just have to take it to a special recycling center to get rid of it. You can look for a recycling center near you at http://earth911.com/ Simply enter the word “polystyrene” in the box on the left at the top of the home page. Then enter your zip code, city, and state into the box on the right. It’s important to use the “polystyrene” instead of “styrofoam,” because that is the name the web site will recognize.
