There are certain species of sturgeon that live in lakes. The appropiately named Lake Sturgeon is a North American temperate freshwater fish that was once very abundant in the Great Lakes region.
Sturgeon live in both rivers and lakes; in fact, they live in oceans as well. There are a variety of different species which live in North America, Europe, and Asia. Some examples include the River Sturgeon, which lives in areas such as the Columbia River in Washington State, the Great Lakes Stugeon (as noted by imendez), and the Atlantic Sturgeon, which exists up and down the entire Eastern seaboard.
