Yes. Venomous spiders can be lethal. Even though a spider bite injects very small amounts of venom, it travels quickly through the bloodstream. Some venom like that of the Brown Recluse, breaks down tissue of all kinds, causing deterioration of blood vessel walls and vital organs. Other venom effects the nervous system in a way that can slow down the heart to the point of death, depending on the age, size, and physical condition of the victim.
