PrintDreams, the company that manufactures PrintBrush, does list a few reasons why their product may be more environmentally friendly than a regular printer. Due to smaller size, much less carbon dioxide is emitted during shipping, as well as during the manufacturing process of both the devices and their packaging.
However, it only makes sense if you’re planning to buy a new printer anyway, as you will still contribute to carbon emissions by getting any new device. Also, it is not clear how much electricity the device uses, although it can be expected to be lower as the printhead is moved manually rather than using motors in a regular printer. In many cases, it won’t substitute a full-size printer anyway, due to small ink capacity, black-and-white only capability, and slow manual printing speeds.
