Absolutely. The purpose of a green bike box is to prevent collisions between motorists turning right and cyclists going straight. The box, which is in front of the waiting vehicles, promotes visibility and awareness. These two components are crucial and can be promoted in any city. The first bike box was installed in Portland in 2008 and although the innovative infrastructure is still somewhat in the testing phase, other cities, like San Francisco, have adopted the green box.
Actually the first bike boxes were installed in England and Europe a decade ago. That is just more proof that they work beyond Portland.
