You might have a difficult time convincing a lot of people to eat them! Pigeons have a reputation for being dirty or pests, so many people probably wouldn’t be interested in them as a food source. That said, there are so many of them in so many urban areas that they could probably be harvested for food without putting the species at much risk. Like any food source, however, if it became a very popular food item care would need to be taken to maintain sustainability — for a little while it would probably be fine to eat as many as we wanted, but that state of affairs couldn’t last forever with any substantial level of demand.
