Yes, palm trees can be found at as high elevations as one thousand meters (on the Andes). Thanks to the significant number of species, they can be found in different habitats and can evolve with the geological changes. But most of the palm tree (areacaceae) species can be found within the Tropical boundaries, and only 130 species can grow outside. The farthest from the Equator you can find a native specie of palm tree is in Southern France (Chamaerops humilis).
