    The answer is Yes. I have lived in Palm Springs and in the last year or so there was a cold spell that brought the temperature to near freezing. While many species of plants died, the thousands upon thousands of Washingtonian and date palms survived just fine. If you click the link below you can see the exact temperatures for each species of Palm Tree and how low they can go. They can survive from varying temperatures; some species as low as 5 Degrees (Mediterranean Fan Palms) or some that can stand up to 20 Degrees (the Sago or Queen Palms).
