Can our logging resources keep up with the paper demand?

Demand for paper resources is decimating American forests and forests in other countries. Only 3 to 4 percent of America’s old growth forests still exist and three quarters of these forests are national forests. Sadly, logging doesn’t only affect trees, it also affects wildlife and plant species, which are also damaged and often brought close to extinction because of the strain on resources logging creates. Even though it is claimed that new growth makes up for the trees being logged, it doesn’t compare especially because new tree growth doesn’t sustain the environment like old growth does.
