Yes, because garbage begins to decompose which releases CO2 and nitrogen into the air wich contributes to global warming. If the same object was recycled it could help counteract global warming.
Of all the reasons that littering is bad for the environment, global warming is not truly one of them. One could make the argument that the fossil fuels spent by highway cleanup crews contributes to atmospheric carbon concentrations, but in the big picture, littering has very little to do with global warming. This doesn’t make littering any more acceptable however.
