Short answer is yes, but it does depend on the type of tumor and where it’s located, but some previously inoperable brain tumors, could possibly be destroyed with laser treatments.
In 2009, doctors at the Brain Tumor Center at the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute reported that they were exploring the possibilities of a “laser scalpel” that can bend to reach difficult-to-access or complex tumors in the brain. This technology allows surgeons to operate near extremely sensitive areas like the spinal cord, and is very focused, reducing the amount of damage to healthy tissue near the tumor.
