I was outside and I saw a katydid. When I steped closer to get a better look, it was startled and flew off before settling on a tree branch. It did not jump, it had some sort of wings.
Katydids can fly, but only short distances, and generally only when threatened. It’s not a primary mode of transportation for them, but since they have wings, it’s a sensible defense tactic.
