Global warming refers to the warming of the atmosphere by a few degrees, which in turn affects the ecosystem and climate. One of the major signs of global warming is extreme weather patterns. Katrina is the largest hurricane on record, and some scientists do believe that global warming is to blame for its enormous strength and resulting damage.
