You’ll have to do some research and check the labels, which vary by brand. Cosmetics are not regulated by the FDA, so it’s hard to say whether the wide and varying combinations of ingredients used in any cosmetic pose health threats. However, some chemicals used in some cosmetics have been found to be present in tumors, namely Thimerosal and paraben preservatives. You’ll want to look out for ingredients like this when shopping, but beware – not all ingredients are disclosed, as some companies will list a name for their secret formula and not the ingredients themselves.
