Some fish can be transported between states (like normal aquarium fish) without any trouble. However, due to the Federal Government’s right to regulate interstate commerce, many fish require approval from the the US Fish and Wildlife Service before they can travel across state borders. There are a number of different species that are documented in this way, most notable endangered and invasive species. This is so government scientists can have more accurate measures of fish populations and better understand how to protect fish and natural ecosystems. Attached is an example of a form one must complete and submit in order to transport these regulated fish within the nation’s states.
