Wax paper is not recyclable so reusing it is a great way to help the environment. Wax paper can be reused however you must be conscious of what it was used for the first time. For example, is the wax paper is used with any type of meat, poultry, or fish, then it should be thrown out and should not be reused. Otherwise, the wax paper can be wiped off with a damp cloth, and be saved for use at a later date.
Wax paper can be reused depending what it was used for the first time. If the wax paper was in contact with anything moist or wet it may not be reusable. This is due to its biodegradable makeup. Wax paper is compostable, just like regular paper. Therefore, you can opt to use new wax paper, compost it, and then use another the next time and still help reduce environmental impact.
I’m not sure what you’re using the wax paper for, but you could consider just using parchment paper instead. Parchment is recyclable, and can do virtually anything wax paper can. You can bake on it, too, which may make your time in the kitchen easier.
