There are actually a lot of recipes for natural hair spray or hair gel on the internet. The following recipe is fairly simple. If you are interested in any other recipes, do a few Google searches.

Boil one cup water and juice from one whole orange in a pan. Reduce the heat to a simmer and add 2 tablespoons flax seeds. Cook for 15 minutes or until the liquid is sticky and gel-like. Strain the flax seed, cool the liquid, and store in a spray bottle. Add two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and one teaspoon glycerin to the bottle. Make sure to shake the bottle well before each use, and store in a refrigerator to keep longer.

To make an easy eco-friendly hairspray just boil two cups of water with one chopped up lemon until the solution is decreased by half.  Cool the mixture and then strain it before pouring it into a spray bottle.  If you want to store the spray at room temperature as opposed to in the refrigerator, add a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol.  For additional hold, dissolve a tablespoon of sugar into the water while boiling it.
