As with most things an once of gopher prevention is worth a pound of gopher cure.
For raised beds you can line the bottom with hardware mesh to keep them from digging up into your beds.
For ground level gardens the best bet is to dig an 18 to 24 inch trench around the entire garden (using a pick and shovel or renting a trench digger) Then install the hardware mesh vertically to prevent them from digging in. They won’t usually tunnel down to get underneath it.
You do, however, have to keep a watch for gophers you may have fenced IN your garden by mistake.
