You can eat them, but like everyone is saying, they taste horrid.
Another thing about unripe bananas is that they contain a lot of starch and are therefore difficult to digest. The more yellow-brown the fruit, the easier it is to digest and absorb the vitamins.
Yeah, sure you can but the ripe ones are yummier and more digestible! However, green bananas have short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that you can’t digest but are great for the cells that make up the lining of the human intestines!
It is nice to eat green banana (cooking type) but you need to cook it.
Sure! Green bananas offer a little bit different nutrition than yellow ones and they are delicious if you cook them (boil in a little salt water or fry). Yum yum.
Sure, they contain a lot of starch, making them harder to digest BUT!! this starch is resistant starch, which acts almost like fiber, This causes your blood sugar to rise slowly and may lower blood cholesterol.
They also have fiber (14% Daily value), which aid in weight control by slowing your digestion and keeping you full longer.
They are said to relieve constipation.(funny because ripe bananas relieve diarrhea… I wonder what would happen if you eat both and let them fight it out!!).
I have also read that you can grind up a green banana and make banana flour, which is 3 times more rich in minerals than wheat (and is gluten free).
As far as everything else, the nutrional value is comparable to a ripe banana. This includes:
magnesium, folate, potassium, vitamin c and B6.
