Yes. Scientists at Edinburgh University discovered the first-known example of human bacteria infecting an animal species when they traced a serious infection in poultry back to a single human-to-animal jump. It happend in Poland 38 years ago. The process is the first to be discovered in the 10,000 years since animals were domesticated.
