It is certainly possible to be a lifelong vegetarian without the need of supplements. It requires a vigilant diet and a solid understanding of how to get protein, iron, and other nutrients out of food. Soy beans are a great replacement for meat as they are a “complete protein” just like meat.
Yes, it is possible. To add to nelsam’s response, many think that vegetarians are missing out on B-12 with a meatless diet, but you can get this from food sources other than supplements, such as eggs and milk products.
