Can plants grow in clay?

    Some plants do better in clay than others. It traps water and that can be bad for plants that are very sensitive to overwatering. The good news is that clay is very high in nutrients. The link below has a list of plants that grow well in clay. You can also try to improve the quality of the soil by amending or top dressing with compost, leaf mold, composted manure or other organic matter.

    Some can, like Achillea and Anemone, most plants cannot though. Clay is a very hard soil to grow in, even for plants that can handle the hardness. It’s a good idea to prep the soil before hand, or if possible to dig beneath it.
