I know that flamingos get their color from the crustacean and algae they feed on, however, I don’t think there are many things that would be pleasing to their dietary needs that also come in different colors, or have the ability to change the pigment of the bird. The carotenoid rich food they feed on provide the pigmentation and also is important in stimulating reproduction. So if it were possible to manipulate a color change it may reduce their reproductive attraction!
