This is a good question, morton, and it is a tough one.
I would suspect that electric motorcycles would only become popular well after electric cars become a normal sight. This is for a couple reasons. For one, motorcycles already get much better gas mileage than cars and are not even ridden year round in many places, this means they are a much smaller contributor to emissions, and therefore not as much importance is put on their becoming electric. Secondly, a lot of what makes a motorcycle enjoyable is the fact that it is gas powered. The look at me attitude goes hand in hand with loud engines and exhaust, there is even a saying that goes “loud pipes save lives.” So the gas powered engine is deeply ingrained in the motorcycle experience and in motorcycle culture.
Hope this helps!
