That is argueable. There is no significant data to conclude that dogs can detect cancer. However, there is a recent study from German researchers that apparently showed that dogs can detect early-stage lung cancer better than doctors or lab equipment. The dogs used for this test was: German Shephards, Labrador retrievers and Australian shephard. In the tests the dogs were given test tubes filled with the breath of various patients – some had lung-cancer or were cancer free. Out of the 400 samples, the dogs were able to idenitfy 71 out of the 100 patients who had lung-cancer – as well detecting the 372 out of the 400 who didn’t have cancer at all.
