All water sources can be replenished, but at very different rates depending on the source. An ephemeral pond or stream may be replenished after one rainstorm or one wet season. Deep groundwater wells and aquifers may take hundreds or thousands of years to replenish because there might not be a consistent source or geological or physical barriers between the source and sink. Frozen water that are melted may require drastic climate changes to return.
