Can creationists believe that climate change is occurring?

Creationists believe that global warming is what they refer to as a wisdom issue. Christians are allowed to make their own decisions on such issues based on the bible, and the evidence they have. Belief or disbelief in reasons for global warming in the Creationist community varies from individual to individual.

    Can they? Yes.
As stated above as a rule this is an individual issue that can be decided by the individual as far as most fundamentalists are concerned. That said, there are certainly fundamentalists that are also far-right conservatives and sometimes these two things get muddled.
“Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) issued a report that said, “Over 700 dissenting scientists … from around the globe challenged man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Al Gore.”” This Senator states that his problem with “man-made” global warming is that it “Takes God out of the picture”.

Any science that removes God from the picture might be pushing the envelope for fundamentalists and so fundamentalist leaders will be compelled to try to enact changes. Reconciling faith and science is a hard one. If God created everything in perfect balance how can one of his creations (us) be destroying God’s work? Biologos Foundation is trying to wrestle with these issues in a way that fully respects the tenets of Judea-Christian faith. At the foundation of the debate is “What is Truth?” We all try to answer this question but we never can fully to the satisfaction of all humans. Evidence, whether empirical or faith based must be weighed with the good of the many in mind when it comes to issues that impact us all.

“While a majority of white evangelicals believe there is solid evidence that the earth is warming, only one in three says human activity is the cause, according to a recent survey.”

The leaders of any faith-based religion have a great impact on the actions and “wisdom issue” decision making of their flocks. If they are promulgating false information then they are not being good stewards.
