Yes, and they are doing so already in some respects. A significant portion of the military’s environment budget is allocated to ensuring that its machinery isn’t ecologically hazardous. The previous rounds used in weapons training was found to have negative effects on local water quality as its compounds seeped into the ground. The military has since transitioned to more environmentally friends rounds for practice.
