can plants be obese?

If we were to define obesity in plants as being overnourished (i.e. too much water and nutrients), then yes, plants can be obese. Overwatered plants will look wilted, have rotting or stunted roots, or have brown young leaves. Plants that have been given too much fertilizer will have yellow foliage and browning of leaf margins.
